The DVUSC Committee is proud and excited to introduce our new Head Of Football – Stewart Blair.
Stewart introduces himself below…
Hi All,
Let me introduce myself, I am Stewart Blair, Scottish by birth and have been around the Australian Football scene for quite some time, live locally after returning from Singapore and China being my last work assignments.I became involved in football at a very early age in the UK (England and Scotland) where I pursued my early dreams of becoming an established professional football player, first with Carlisle United and then Hibernian in Scotland, to then be transferred to New Zealand to join a National League team in Dunedin, to then transfer to Hakoah Melbourne where I commenced my time in Australia in the late 70’s.
Additionally I have played for teams in Adelaide (both Adelaide National League teams ,West Adelaide Hellas and Adelaide City and then returning back to Melbourne for work commitments, joining state league teams where I also player/coached ,the last being Rosanna, have represented both Victoria and South Australia against visiting touring sides and Australia pre world cup training games, have represented Scotland at schoolboy and youth level.
I am a qualified coach out of the South Australian system.
My later years working requirements have kept me out of the football community in any involving capacity and in recent months after catching up with Mark O’Shea your club president I have been involving myself at his request to overlook the footballing side of things and so I may have met some of you along the way and others I haven’t, but will do, as I am pleased to say that I will be joining the club within the new Football Department to assist the club to realise its goals and ambitions of becoming the best local community club it can be and the place where juniors develop their skills to hopefully be a playing participant at a senior level and very importantly enjoying their time across the various development programmes through the years.
So I look forward progressively to meeting all and to hearing from you, after all you are the ones that have laid the foundations for the club to move forward and for that we thank you .
The club’s 5 year plan is well structured and has a positive outlook for the future and that future requires good people. A club is only as good as the people within it, I look forward to meeting you all and working with you to realise not only the club goals but those of your own.
Best Regards
Stewart
