This game was swapped to a home game due to the Rowville ground not being available.
Rowville, playing their first match of the season started the brighter of the two teams creating the better chances, with one shot parried by Goalkeeper Peter Kourkoulis and another striking the bar. At the other end, Robert Montagnese had a couple chances from distance which went narrowly wide. At half time both sides went in at 0-0.
In second half it was a different affair, with the Valley on the front foot attacking and pressuring their opponents well, pinning them back in their own half. The game came to life in the 56th minute when both full backs combined to set up the opener. Max Caridi’s ball across the box found his team mate Ollie Jankulovski at the back post as he fired home, beating the keeper to make it 1-0. The Valley maintained the ascendency and in the 76th minute they were rewarded when a corner ball was cut back inside by Montagnese and an unmarked Jonathan Stiliadis thumped home from inside the 6 yard box to make it 2-0. Valley had chances to put it beyond doubt in the final minutes, but it was Rowville who grabbed a late consolation goal with the last kick of the game as it finished 2-1.
With the Easter weekend to rest up before facing Monash Uni away on the 10th April, the Valley currently have maximum points (6) from their opening 2 games, equal first with the pacesetters, Frankston Pines.
